The 2020 Korean Science Olympiad will consist of three main activities:
Written Test:
Students will each take an individual test. Students will have a choice between Physics, General Science, Chemistry and Biology test. The test questions will be comprised of a mixture of AP/SAT test style questions. Awards will be awarded to the top 3 students for each subject.
Brain Bowl:
The second part of the KSO will consist of a "brain bowl" - style quiz activity. Each school will nominate 4 students to participate as a team and represent their school. Each school needs to have at least one student from grade 9-10 on their team at all times. Substitutions are allowed in-between rounds. The brain bowl will consist of quiz-type questions ranging from general science knowledge and science trivia. Teams will buzz in to answer questions and score tallies will be kept. Detailed rules are uploaded on the "Contest Information" page on our website but will also be read out before the competition.
Group Activity:
Groups will work together as a team and make use of their scientific knowledge and skills to successfully complete the designated task. The topic of this year's group activity will be released on the day of the competition.
Statement of Integrity
The members of the Science Olympiad at Yongsan International School of Seoul are committed to planning and facilitating a fair and just Korean Science Olympiad for all participating schools and individuals. The students who are contributing to organizing the Korean Science Olympiad will not be participating in the event, and the confidentiality of the event will be kept only to those who are involved in the organization committee. Yongsan International School of Seoul brain bowl participants have been designated, and the brain bowl questions have been kept from their knowledge. We pledge to ensure the integrity of the 9th Annual Korean Science Olympiad to the best of our abilities.
